As this is a relatively unexplored area of scholarship, I’m anxious to hear from anyone interested in or with experience in researching thresholds in any discipline. Any information about the practice of using apotropaia to protect or delineate vernacular architecture boundaries and thresholds is especially welcome. My dissertation is focused on 17th century New England, so archaeological evidence of apotropaic practice pertinent to this time and place would be greatly appreciated.
